“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
― Pablo Picasso
A Little About Myself |
I have had a passion for art for as long as I can remember. Beyond drawing with crayons and markers, my first medium was pencil and colored pencil. I didn't start painting until 2015 when I discovered watercolors for the first time. I have developed a true passion for watercolors. I love the challenge of working with the water and letting the white of the paper show through with the lightest parts of the painting. I will paint any subject that inspires me but I especially enjoy painting portraits from photos.
Currently, I am teaching a weekly watercolor class in Phoenix. I have an associates degree in Graphic Design and I am a member of the Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona, American Watercolor Society and Arizona Watercolor Association with signature status. I have entered many local and national art shows and have been awarded 1st Place, People's Choice, President's Choice and merchant awards for my paintings. Find me on Instagram @mdrogaz |

I never know what will inspire me next.
I look for quality pictures that have detail and a good light source. My style is very photo realistic, so a good photo reference is key for me. Many different types of pictures can spark my interest, but I am more drawn to animals, people, and things that are rusty and old. |
